Placing orders from scratch can be time consuming, especially when customers are re-entering the same details over and over. We noticed it was slowing down both our customers and our dispatchers. That’s why we rolled out a new feature to make placing recurring orders faster and easier.
A New Way to Place Recurring Orders

We set up a recurring order system by which customers that call in with the same recurring order can simply input their account number and a recurring order ID to place the order. The recurring order ID, called a Fast Reference (Fast Ref), is connected to a template within our system that contains all the necessary order details. This includes item description, weight and dimensions; temperature controls; pick-up and delivery addresses; special instructions; and the points of contact.

Immediate Improvements to Recurring Orders

This new system has decreased the time it takes to place recurring orders from three minutes to less than one. This has allowed our customers to return quickly to their priorities and our dispatchers to move quickly to their next task.
“We have a couple customers that call so regularly that they just state their name and ask for their job number, because we already know their account numbers and Fast Refs due to the frequency of their orders,” says one dispatcher.
It has also improved the accuracy of these orders because customers no longer need to input data manually each time and risk entering the wrong information.
